HISTORY BACKGROUND

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences was established in 1996. It is located in Piyachart and Ratchasuda Buildings, Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus), Pathumtanee (approximately less than an hour from Bangkok). Currently, the Faculty consists of three departments or equivalence: Department of Medical Technology (commencing students’ admission in 1996), Department of Physical Therapy (commencing students’admission in 1998), and Graduate Program consisting two postgraduate programs:

1) International program in Biomedical Sciences (commencing students’ admission in 2001)

2) Medical Technology program (commencing students’ admission in 2009).

The Faculty is well equipped with materials and human resources. There are approximately 69 academic staff, with 38 being at doctoral level, 31 at Master's level. The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences offers three Bachelor of Science degree programs (in Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, and Sports Exercise Science) to a total of approximately 150 students per year. The Graduate Program offers Master and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Biomedical Sciences offering, and Master degree in Medical Technology. All the academic programs have established with the firm commitment that they will be nationally beneficial for developing and generating the much-needed health professionals and researchers in fields of health sciences and applied sciences. The faculty has graduated more than 972 students since its founding who have gone on to make great contributions to the development and progress of the country in particular in public health and health science fields. The faculty continues to grow and diversity with professional staff and a wide range of research interests.
