Message of the Dean

Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (AHS) has 2 undergraduate programs which are medical technology and physical therapy. Administrative policy for AHS in the next 3 years, which will support national need, is establishing the new programs: sport (sport sciences, sport management, sport coaching) and forensic sciences. Regarding post-graduated programs, there are biomedical sciences and medical technology. Post-graduated program for physical therapy will be opened in 2015.

To prepare for Asean Economics Community (AEC), an international program (laboratory medicine) will be opened. The faculty has planned to open a new bachelor program: medical technology combined with forensic sciences. This program will focus on laboratory skills of medical technology and knowledge of forensic sciences. Also, a special medical technology program called 4+1 program will be opened. Student in this program can choose specialized skills in an extra 1 year for example fertilization in vitro in order to help people with infertility and then receive a master degree.

Furthermore, the faculty will extend health services which contain medical technology research and services, physical therapy services and sport rehabilitation services. The physical therapy service unit has been running to serve various types of clients, for example hydrotherapy in pregnancy and other health conditions. The sport rehabilitation services will be opened at a main stadium of the university which will provide treatment for people with sport injuries and improve physical performance in athletes. In addition, the sport program office will move to the university main stadium in the next semester.

The faculty has planned to expand international collaborations with other universities, in teaching, research and student exchange. The first year of this plan, students and staffs will exchange research studies in Korea. Additionally, research team from St Mary Hospital Catholic University will visit our faculty for cancer research study collaboration. Furthermore, associate dean and director of post-graduate program have visited Suzhou Institute of Biomedical Engineering and technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and have signed a memorandum of understanding.

All strategic plans of the faculty would not be completed without hard working and cooperation of all staffs. I would like to thank all staffs for their cooperation.
